Defensive planning in Belfast

The paper examines redevelopment in one religiously divided area of inner city Belfast. Plans are examined from the standpoint of defensible space, road network rationalisation and sectarian conflict, and it is concluded that although the two orthodox theories of planning are being adhered to, future sectarian conflict has been considered in drawing up the plans. Such considerations have had a dramatic effect on redevelopment for the area.Downloads
